Most of the trails above Cat lake are closed for logging.

So is that it for Cat lake or is there any hope a trail network?

The trails wuill be open in May.The trails below cat lake are open.

According to DOS, the cat lake trails all seem to be classified as easy mountain bike trails or hiking. Is this correct? Are dirtbikes permitted?

There are very few SDBA trails listed.

most of the trails there are dirt bike trails. i havent seen too many mountain bikers there at all.

Cat lake is a dirt bike area, and has been since day one. We do ask that you stay off the Cheshire Cat trail and please stay away from the lake and campsite....also don't unload in the campsite parking lot. The trails are not "easy mountain bike trails" there is a mix of everything. I'd say the biggest problem at Cat is the trails need serious maintenance. With our club being so busy with our Lava Flow trails project we just haven't had the time to get out there for some much needed trial work. We try get together on Tuesday nights for maintenance...slay a couple beers after... it's also a great way to meet other members and possibly see trails you didn't know about. So if your up for a trail night let us know!
